Hispanic business leader donates $3 million to home repair charity before his retirement

(EXAMPLE, Texas – Sept. 24, 2025) Charles Delgado, CEO of Delgado Construction, donated $3 million earlier this month to Hopes for Homes, a nonprofit that provides home repair programs for low-income families in Texas. This is the largest individual donation to date Hopes for Homes.

Employees of Delgado Construction will also donate about 20 volunteer hours each to aid in repairing these homes.

“Everyone deserves access to a safe home,” Delgado said. “Hopes for Homes has made that dream a reality for a lot of families in Texas. I know my donation is in the right hands.”

At age 90, Delgado is planning to retire next month. He founded the firm in 1960 and grew it into the largest Hispanic-run construction company in the country. His grandson, Javier Delgado, will become the new CEO.

Charles Delgado grew up in Example, Texas. As the son of Mexican immigrants, many of his childhood houses and apartments were in disrepair. A few even lacked running water and heat. This is why Delgado has spent his career creating opportunities for those who need it.

Mr. Pérez Puerto might be interested in this story because his outlet is both local to Dallas and it covers stories pertaining to the challenges and issues the Hispanic community faces. Dear Mr. Vaughn,

My name is Alexis Dubree, and I am reaching out on behalf of Delgado Construction in Dallas. Our employees are currently planning to piggyback off of our CEO’s recent $3 million donation to Hopes for Homes by donating 1,400 volunteer hours to them as well.

Hopes for Homes is a North Texas nonprofit that provides repairs and improvement to homes of low-income families in the area. Our CEO, Charles Delgado, is passionate about this cause, and is proud to call this one of his last acts before he retires next month at age 90.

You cover a lot of stories about housing and urban development for Community Impact. I believe your readers over 65 would be interested in reading about this.

Please let me know if you are interested in speaking about this collaboration more. I would be more than happy to arrange an interview with Charles or Javier for you. You can reach me anytime at alexisdubree@my.unt.edu or 214-843-4610.

Thank you for your time,

Alexis Dubree
